Reconnect Rally Event Scheduled

Mid Michigan College is hosting a Reconnect Rally event on the Harrison Campus to help adult students, particularly those 25 years of age and older, begin or return to college.

The event, including campus tours, application assistance, and more, is planned for 2pm-5pm Tuesday, July 15 on the Harrison Campus.

“We’re focused on helping these students take advantage of the resources that are available—especially financial resources,” shared Beth Binder, Director of Admissions at Mid. “We’re ready to help students apply for the Michigan Reconnect scholarship and complete the FAFSA, both of which can offer them some real support.”

Reconnect covers in-district tuition and some fees for eligible adults who want to pursue an associate degree. Mid’s in-district service area includes the school districts of Beaverton, Clare, Farwell, Gladwin, Harrison, and Mt. Pleasant.

In order to be eligible for Michigan Reconnect, adults must be between the ages of 25 and 64, have a high school diploma or equivalent, have been a Michigan resident for one year, and have not completed a college degree.

Students must apply for federal financial aid using the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA). Once other aid is applied, Michigan Reconnect pays the remaining balance of in-district tuition and mandatory fees. Students not living in a community college district will pay the difference between in-district and out-district tuition, but would still receive significant savings.

“We’ve had hundreds of students attend using Reconnect and we’re eager to help more students take advantage of this great opportunity,” noted Binder. “Students can attend tuition-free and fast-track their future plans—it’s a win-win.”
