Mid Michigan College is pleased to announce that the Michigan Department of Corrections (MDOC) Corrections Officer Grant has been officially renewed through September 30, 2026. This renewal ensures continued tuition assistance for Michigan corrections officers as they work toward completing the 15 college credits required within the first 24 months of employment.
Administered by the Michigan Community College Association (MCCA), the Michigan Corrections Officer Grant provides funding for tuition and fees for corrections officers enrolled at Michigan community colleges—including Mid Michigan College. With the extension now in place, students can register for Winter 2026 courses, and all courses outlined in the approved amendment are eligible for support.
Mid Michigan College offers a streamlined, tuition-free pathway for corrections officers looking to fulfill the state-mandated credit requirement. Officers can earn their 15-credit State Corrections Certificate by completing five courses over two semesters, all of which are eligible for grant funding. These courses, developed by the Michigan Correctional Officers’ Training Council, are designed to strengthen professional competencies while supporting officers’ long-term career goals.
The College’s Criminal Justice State Corrections Pathways, offered in partnership with MDOC, are intentionally structured to save officers both time and money. All credits earned through the certificate program seamlessly ladder into Mid’s associate degree pathway, enabling students to continue their education with a strong foundation already in place.
To further support working professionals, the full certificate can be completed 100% online in just two semesters, offering flexibility for officers balancing academic goals with demanding schedules.
