Laker Athletics Golf Classic Supports Student-Athletes On & Off the Field

Student-athletes at Mid Michigan College do more than compete. They work toward degrees, build leadership skills, and prepare for what comes next—both on the field and beyond.

From the court to the course, the diamond to the starting line, Mid’s Lakers represent dedication, teamwork, and perseverance. They balance practices, competitions, classes, jobs, and personal goals while working toward graduation and future success.

“Our student-athletes inspire us every day through their commitment to both athletics and academics,” shared Danny Smith, Athletic Director at Mid Michigan College. “They work hard to succeed in the classroom, in competition, and as members of our community.”

Scholarships help make those opportunities possible by providing additional support for student-athletes as they pursue their goals.

“The Laker Athletics Golf Classic helps raise funds for student-athlete scholarships,” said Smith. “These scholarships provide access and opportunity for students who are working hard to achieve their goals.”

The annual Laker Athletics Golf Classic will take place Friday, August 14, at Snow Snake in Harrison. Registration begins at 8am, with a shotgun start at 9am.

Community members, alumni, and Laker supporters can participate by becoming a sponsor or registering a foursome. Golf registration includes a light breakfast, coffee, lunch, heavy appetizers at the 19th hole, two drink tickets, a sleeve of golf balls, and a round of golf.

Participants can also enjoy additional opportunities throughout the event, including a 50/50 drawing.

"We invite everyone to join us at Snow Snake on August 14,” said Courtney Silverthorn, Director of Development at Mid. “It’s a great opportunity to support Laker Athletics, meet our student-athletes, enjoy a day on the course, and be part of the Mid community.”

Proceeds from the event support scholarships for Mid student-athletes, helping more Lakers continue their education while pursuing their passion for competition.
