You're currently enrolled at another college and need to take a course at Mid.

Need a course? We can help.

Whether you need a prerequisite, want to build a skill or are working toward a specific goal, we'll help you find the right course.

You might be wondering...

If you're new to Mid, you'll need to complete an application before you can register for a course. If you've attended Mid before, your next steps may depend on your student status.

Yes. You don't have to pursue a degree or take a full course load to take a course at Mid.

Search Courses

Many courses are available online, but availability varies by semester and course. Search the course schedule to see the current online options.

A course may transfer to another college or university, but transfer policies vary by institution and program. If you're taking a course with plans to transfer, check with the college you're planning to attend to make sure it meets their requirements.

Some courses require you to complete another course or meet specific requirements before enrolling. Check the course description for prerequisites before registering. If you're unsure whether you meet the requirements, a Mid Mentor can help.

Next Steps

After you've submitted your Mid Michigan College Application, complete the next steps below.

Laker Login & Mid Mich Email

It is vital that you check your Mid Mich Email regularly so you don’t miss important information or deadlines. Visit midmich.edu/account for instructions.

Privacy PIN

To help protect your personal information, we’re adding a new step to verify your identity. You’ll need to set up a Privacy PIN. This PIN is used anytime you contact us about your records—like financial aid, registration, or grades.

What To Do
  • Log in to Self-Service using your Laker Login.
  • Click your user name in the upper-right corner.
  • Click Student Records Release.
  • Click Add Person/Relationship and complete the information for SELF. Make sure to choose a number you’ll remember, but others won’t guess.
Why This Matters
  • This helps us keep your information safe and make sure we’re only sharing it with you.
Important!
  • If you don’t have your Privacy PIN set up, we won’t be able to discuss certain details over the phone.
  • If you forget your Privacy PIN, call Mid's Registration & Records team at (989) 776-6622 x453 for assistance.

If you need help, we’re here—just reach out. You can also review the Student Records Release PIN Implementation Guide available from our Helpful Guides webpage.

Several courses at Mid have prerequisites that must be completed before you can register. Guest Students have often satisfied prerequisites at their home college or university, but Mid is unable to access that information. This could prevent you from registering for courses through Self-Service.

To verify that you have met the prerequisites required at Mid, follow the steps below.

  1. Email your unofficial transcript to enrollment@midmich.edu or mail them to Mid Michigan College ATTN: Registrar 1375 South Clare Avenue Harrison
    MI 48625.
  2. Identify what Mid course you wish to enroll in, and which course on your unofficial transcript you believe satisfies the Mid Michigan College prerequisite.
  3. Include your name, Mid Michigan College Student ID Number, phone number, and email address in your correspondence.
  4. Once we verify that you have completed the prerequisite(s), we will email you a confirmation. At this point, you can use Self-Service to register and pay for the course.

This process may take time to complete. Our email confirmation does not guarantee that a spot will be available when you attempt to register. Follow the steps above in a timely fashion, paying close attention to critical registration dates and deadlines.

Placement Testing

Appropriate placement in courses promotes your success and allows us to assist you in selecting courses that align with your current skill levels. If you do not have access to transcripts or test scores, you may need to do additional placement testing. Your Mid Mentor can help you determine what testing needs to be completed.

Visit Registration & Records at either campus to register in person. To register online, visit myMid and click the Register for Courses link within the Self-Service tools menu. Log in to Self-Service and use this helpful guide to go through the registration process step-by-step. If you need help, email enrollment@midmich.edu.

Payment must be made by the full tuition due date. You can pay tuition online, in Student Services, or through Self-Service.

Remember that Guest Students are not eligible for financial aid through Mid Michigan College. The federal government only allows you to apply for financial aid through one college or university at a time, and that should be your home college or university where you are earning the bulk of your credits. If you won’t be enrolled at any other school, contact us about the possibility of using financial aid at Mid.
