Community Health Worker Short-Term Training is designed to prepare you to be a front-line health worker and to provide culturally responsive services in Michigan communities. A Community Health Worker (CHW) serves as a liaison to individuals and families, helping them connect to community services and build confidence in their ability to address health-related issues.

Did you graduate high school in 2023 or after and are interested in a fast track to a great career? You may be eligible to receive up to $4,000 for select trainings at Mid with the Michigan Achievement Skills Scholarship!
Eligible trainings include Phlebotomy, CNA, Dental Assistant, and Community Health Worker.
The training was developed in partnership with Everyday Life Consulting LLC to provide the nationally recognized core competency based Community Health Worker training. Instructors use hands-on practice, group activities, demonstrations, role-playing, case studies, and simulations to facilitate content using the popular education model.
The training is comprised of 100 instruction hours and 50 hours applying your knowledge and skills on the job in an externship, and 10 hours of coaching from the instructor.
Students successfully completing the Community Health Worker short-term training will be awarded 1 credit toward HED 289 Public Health Internship in the Associate in Applied Science: Public Health Degree.
