There's Still Time to Start College This Fall at Mid
With fall courses beginning August 31, there's still time to enroll at Mid Michigan College and explore tuition-free opportunities that are helping hundreds of students earn a degree or credential with little to no tuition costs.
Whether you're a recent high school graduate, returning to college after time away, or looking to build new skills for a career change, Mid offers affordable options designed to help students get started this fall.
Today, more than 800 Mid students are attending college through Michigan Reconnect, while more than 480 recent high school graduates are using the Community College Guarantee to begin their college education with little to no tuition costs.
Recent High School Graduate?
The Community College Guarantee provides eligible recent high school graduates with tuition-free access to Mid for in-district students and significant financial assistance for students living outside the district. Eligible students may also receive up to $1,000 to help cover educational expenses such as textbooks, transportation, or supplies. Students have up to 15 months after graduating from high school to take advantage of this opportunity.
Returning to College as an Adult?
Michigan Reconnect helps eligible Michigan residents age 21 and older earn a college degree by covering in-district tuition and mandatory fees after other financial aid has been applied.
More Than One Way to Save
Michigan Reconnect and the Community College Guarantee work alongside federal and state financial aid to make college more affordable. Students are encouraged to complete the Free Application for Federal Student Aid (FAFSA) to maximize available assistance.
Beyond financial aid, Mid supports students from their first day through graduation with academic advising, tutoring, career exploration, mental health counseling, technology, and more.
"College should be within reach for anyone who wants to improve their future," said Scott Mertes, President of Mid Michigan College. "Michigan Reconnect and the Community College Guarantee are helping students take that next step without the financial burden that has traditionally stood in their way. Every day, we see students gaining the skills, credentials, and confidence they need to build better futures for themselves, their families, and our communities."
Whether students are preparing for an in-demand career or planning to transfer to a four-year university, Mid offers flexible scheduling, small class sizes, and personalized support that help students succeed.
Prospective students interested in starting this fall are encouraged to connect with Mid's Admissions and Financial Aid teams as soon as possible. Staff can help determine eligibility for tuition-free opportunities, scholarships, grants, and other financial aid, assist with completing the FAFSA, and guide students through the enrollment process before fall courses begin on August 31.
