Mid Michigan College students, Jason Greenacre (Clare) and Mariah Huguelet (Gladwin), recently received Head of the Class awards from Malco Products, a major tool manufacturer based in Annandale, Minnesota.
"Jason is a dedicated student, often arriving early and staying late—he is a team player and has exceeded all expectations and standards of this program,” noted Ron Holmes, HRA Lead Faculty at Mid.
“Mariah hasn’t missed a day of class and is very proactive—creating projects and opportunities for herself and her classmates to deepen their understanding and build their skills," shared Casey Schmid, HRA Adjunct Faculty & Lab Tech.
“Their strong work ethic, quiet determination, and a genuine willingness to help others succeed makes both of these students truly deserving of this award,” noted Holmes.
Each school term, Malco recognizes high-achieving students and entire graduating classes in the HVAC/sheet metal, building construction, and autobody repair fields through their Head of the Class Student Recognition Program.
Since 2005, the program has reached more than 85,000 students, from over 1,000 technical schools, Union Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees, and Industry Association education programs across the U.S. and Canada.

“The HRA Program at Mid has given me the confidence, skills, and hands-on training I need to step into the field with purpose,” shared Huguelet. “I’m especially thankful to my instructors who pushed me to be my best and supported me every step of the way.”
Mid’s HRA lab features heating and refrigeration units for hands-on learning that prepare students to enter the workforce successfully. In addition, fast-track options allow students to earn multiple credentials and certifications in just one year, and 100% of students are placed in internships and jobs following graduation.
