A Northern Tradition Raises Over $75,000

Nearly 600 people attended the 22nd annual A Northern Tradition, Mid Michigan College’s annual fundraiser, which took place recently at Jay’s Sporting Goods in Clare. This year’s event raised over $75,000, and over twenty-two years, A Northern Tradition, has raised more than $2 million to support the College’s services to students and the community.

“As we gathered together all the generous support received during A Northern Tradition, we were so near the mark of raising $2 million dollars since the event began,” shared Carey. “And thanks to a generous donation from the Poet Family, we were able to push past this historic fundraising milestone!”

A Northern Tradition is the College’s biggest fundraiser. The proceeds from this event allow the Mid Michigan College Foundation to support the College’s services to students through scholarships, program development, improved facilities, and student success initiatives.

Attendees enjoyed an evening of exclusive shopping and exceptional food provided by local restaurants, and were excited to meet the Featured Artist, Cheryl Myer, an instructor at Mid and local resident.

Ticket holders were also entered to win a $1,000 Jay’s Gift Certificate. The 2025 lucky winner was Tony Voisen.

“I am so impressed and grateful for how the community stepped forward to support the College again this year,” said Alexa Carey, Executive Director of the Mid Michigan College Foundation. “This event wouldn’t be possible without the generosity of Jay’s Sporting Goods. We’re so thankful to the sponsors, the restaurants and demonstrators, the many volunteers, and the attendees. It was a great event.”
