I am a mother of three energetic children and wife to a supportive husband. I began my adult life working full-time as the manager of the toy department at Walmart. After having my second child, I realized retail was not the career path I wanted to pursue. At that point, my husband and I decided it was time for me to stay home and care for our children. While it was the best decision we could have made for our family, it was not always easy. There were many ups and downs, but the time spent with my girls made every challenge worthwhile. After introducing our son into this world, my life changed; nothing was ever going to be the same again. Shortly after his birth, he was diagnosed with a lifelong health disorder that required intense monthly treatments. As our family grew and we managed my son’s health demands, life began to make sense again. His treatments were allowing him to grow and develop as normally as he could. When the time came for him to start school, I was terrified; I needed to be close to him. I took the opportunity to sub as a paraprofessional and assistant teacher in the elementary and preschool classrooms. I fell in love with the children and watching them grow and develop throughout the year. Mid allowed me to continue my passion for working with children while pursuing an Early Childhood Education credential. The course times and online learning opportunities were easily juggled around being a mom and sub in the classroom. Throughout my time at Mid, I had the honor of working with great staff and a well-organized program. The instructors made my courses exciting and joyful in a relaxed learning environment. Every semester was engaging and a valuable learning opportunity that helped me develop the skills needed to be successful. Before I knew it, I had finished the program and earned my silver cords for my academic success. I now hang those cords above my computer to remind me anything is possible. I have conquered an education I thought impossible with the highest of honors, and am continuing my passion for educating the youth of our Nation as a bachelor degree student. While I have a bit of my college education to finish, I have already set new goals to conquer. In addition to teaching young children, I hope one day to teach college students the skills needed to achieve their goals as I have. Success is possible and Mid has brightened my future and opportunities, on my path to success.

Keegan Rohdy - Class of 2013 Farwell High School

Keegan graduated salutatorian of his high school class and had already earned 24 college credits from Mid through dual enrollment. “I started in the Accounting Program at Mid in 2013-14. Ashlee Ritchie was my instructor for my first Accounting classes. I knew right away that I had chosen the right career field for myself, and Ashlee was a great mentor. At the beginning of my second semester of my freshman year, Ashlee recommended me for a cost accounting position at Brown Machine in Beaverton. I interviewed and was offered the job. They were willing to work with my college class schedule, and the hands-on experience has been great! I have now been there for two years. I am learning about the accounting profession through direct application. Some of my duties include time cards for payroll, Accounts Payable, help with cost overview and inventory control, month-end/year-end reporting, and assistance with auditors. I will start at Northwood this May to finish my 3+1 Accounting degree as part of the adult program, where I will take classes online and at night while I continue to work full time. Doing the 3+1 between Mid and Northwood has been one of the best decisions I have ever made. I will virtually earn my degree in four years and be nearly debt-free as a result of dual enrollment, scholarships, and the job that Mid helped me to get.”

My life before starting at Mid was all about being a stay-at-home mom, focusing on my children, husband, mother, and father. It was about what I could do to help them through whatever they needed help with. I chose to come to Mid after the passing of my father and a push from my husband wanting to see me get on track with what I always wanted to do in life, which was college. Life showed me you never know how much time you have and I wanted to be proud of myself for something I accomplished. Mandy Robert My experience was great! I accomplished things that I didn't think I could do, especially being in my 30's. I met a ton of wonderful people and really enjoyed everything I learned while I pushed through some tough times in my personal life. The instructors were really helpful and supportive, any questions or issues I had were explained and they helped me in any way they could. Some really showed me that I was capable of so much more than what I thought I ever was. My internship helped me realize that I was capable of more than what I learned in college. I got to be able to use and work on a computer with my CAD degree, I was able to show my skills outside the office on the road through my work with paving and I've learned a great deal about our county. I wound up getting a full-time job at the same place I interned at and that meant a lot to me. I am thankful for everything that I got challenged with in life, because I realize now that it showed me how strong I was, even if I didn't feel like I was strong at the time. - Mandy Robert, CAD Program
