Meet Delaney Nguyen

Meet Delaney Nguyen, a Physical Therapist Assistant (PTA) student and member of Mid’s Honors Program!

Delaney is concerned about the environmental impact of fast fashion and wanted to do something about it. So, she took action!

Through Mid’s Honors Program, Delaney secured funding for 175 sewing kits to share with the campus community. She then organized SEW You Care, an event where students learned basic sewing skills, including how to sew on buttons, repair hems, and make other simple clothing repairs.

Her goal? Help people make their favorite clothes last longer, reduce waste, and make a difference right here in our community.

That's what being a Laker is all about! Seeing a need, stepping forward, and creating positive change.

Thank you, Delaney, for helping make our Mid community stronger! And a special thank-you to fellow Honors Program student Doug Strother (also pictured), who volunteered to help make the event a success.
