A new career or skill doesn’t always require years of school. Sometimes, it starts with a few weeks of focused training.

Mid Michigan College will host its Short-Term Training Showcase from 5pm to 8pm Monday, September 28, giving community members an opportunity to explore training options that can lead to new skills, career opportunities and professional growth.

The free event will be held at Mid’s Mt. Pleasant Campus and is designed for anyone interested in learning more about short-term training, whether they are looking for a new career, want to advance in their current field, or are exploring what comes next.

“Short-term training can be a great way to take that next step without putting your life on hold,” said Autumn Mathews, Director of Workforce & Economic Development at Mid. “The Showcase gives people a chance to see what’s possible, ask questions, and connect with the people who can help them get started.”

Attendees can

  • Explore Mid’s short-term training options.
  • Learn about possible financial support opportunities.
  • Meet with training experts and learn about getting started.
  • See healthcare and CDL driving demonstrations.
  • Experience a CDL truck.
  • Tour Mid’s updated and expanded Welding Lab.

Discover how short-term training can lead to skills that can be put to work right away.
Attendees can also enjoy light refreshments and enter for a chance to win half off a short-term training of their choice or a gear giveaway for the training of their choice. One winner will be selected for each prize.

The event is free and open to the public. An RSVP is optional and can be made by emailing training@midmich.edu. Community members are also welcome to simply drop in and explore their options.
