Team Toss Challenge Brings Fun, Scholarships to Local Football Games

Mid Michigan College is bringing a halftime challenge, free hot dogs, and scholarship opportunities to four local high school football games this fall.

Mid Michigan College will host Team Toss Challenge events at upcoming football games in Clare, Farwell, Gladwin and Harrison, giving local high school students a chance to compete for scholarships while cheering on their classmates.

The Team Toss Challenge events are planned for

  • Farwell vs. Beaverton — Thursday, September 3, at Farwell
  • Gladwin vs. Shepherd — Friday, September 12, at Gladwin
  • Clare vs. Beaverton — Friday, September 18, at Beaverton
  • Harrison vs. Evart — Friday, October 23, at Harrison

Mid representatives and current students will be at each game beginning at 6pm, offering free hot dogs, purchased through the local sports boosters association, along with Mid swag and information about the College.

“We encourage community members to attend the game, support local student-athletes and learn more about the College,” said Beth Binder, Director of Admissions at Mid Michigan College.

During halftime, two students from each participating high school will be selected to compete in the Team Toss Challenge. Each pair will be placed yards apart and attempt to get as many footballs in the basket as possible.

The team with the most baskets receives $500 scholarships to Mid Michigan College for each team member. The other participating students receive a $100 scholarship to Mid.

Students from participating high schools can register for a chance to compete at midmich.edu/tailgate or connect with a Mid Admissions Representative at their school during the week of the game.

“The College has always been a community partner, and we’re continuing to find ways to support local communities and students of all ages across mid-Michigan,” Binder said.
