Mid Michigan College Mourns the Passing of Trustee Richard S. Allen, Jr.
Mid Michigan College is saddened to share the passing of longtime Trustee Richard S. "Dick" Allen, Jr., who served on the College's Board of Trustees for more than 40 years.
Allen's decades of service helped shape Mid Michigan College into the institution it is today. Throughout his tenure, he provided steady leadership and an unwavering commitment to students, employees, and the communities the College serves.
"Today, we mourn the loss of a dedicated trustee, respected community leader, and friend," said Jane Zdrojewski, Chair of the Mid Michigan College Board of Trustees. "Dick helped guide the College through periods of growth, change, and opportunity. His impact on this institution will be felt for years to come."
Allen joined the Board of Trustees in 1986 and remained a steadfast advocate for accessible, affordable higher education throughout his service. During his tenure, Mid expanded educational opportunities, strengthened community partnerships, and enhanced facilities and services for students.
"On behalf of the College, I extend our deepest condolences to Dick's family, friends, fellow trustees, and all who had the privilege of working alongside him," said President Tim Hood. "Having served with Dick for all six of my years as Mid’s seventh president, I came to know and appreciate his passion and loyalty for the College and our students. "
In recognition of Allen's service to the College, the Mid Michigan College flag will be flown at half-staff.
