Community Invited to Take Part in First-Ever Strides of Honor Run/Walk

This spring, Mid Michigan College is inviting the community to lace up their shoes and step forward in honor of those who have served.

On Saturday, May 16, the College hosts the first-ever Strides of Honor Run/Walk at the Poet Family Outdoor Education Center on the Harrison Campus. The event challenges participants to run or walk as many laps as they can over four hours—each step honoring the service, sacrifice, and dedication of our nation’s veterans.

But this event is about more than miles.
It’s about meaning.

The four-hour format represents the four core values that define the spirit of military service: Honor, Courage, Commitment, and Sacrifice. Community members of all ages and abilities are invited to take part—whether running, walking, or cheering others on.

Participants can compete individually or form teams of up to four people, with awards recognizing achievements such as most laps, best team name, and the youngest and oldest participants.
Along the way, every stride helps support something bigger.

Proceeds from the event benefit Mid Michigan College’s Student Veterans of America Chapter and campus trail system, while also supporting local veteran organizations, including area Veterans of Foreign Wars and American Legion Chapters serving Clare, Gladwin, and Isabella Counties.
Following the run/walk, participants enjoy refreshments, camaraderie, and a celebration recognizing the day’s accomplishments.

Whether you run a lap, walk the entire course, or simply come to show your support, Strides of Honor offers a meaningful way for the community to come together—remembering those who served while investing in the next generation of student veterans.

Registration opens at 7:30am, with the event beginning at 9am.

Participants are encouraged to register early and be part of what promises to become a powerful new community tradition.
