Mid Michigan College focuses on delivering knowledge and ability to empower learners and transform communities—including the community formed by the College’s faculty and staff.
In early 2020, an idea took shape to annually recognize faculty and staff members for efforts that exceeded the expectations of College leaders and their peers, and this tradition continues today.
Liz Kogelman truly embodies the spirit of excellence in teaching—someone whose knowledge, passion, and dedication leave a lasting impact. She goes above and beyond to enhance the Nursing Program, empower students, and inspire those around her. She took on the challenge of implementing simulation in the skills lab, completely rewrote critical courses, assisted with the Nursing Pinning Ceremony, and engaged her students in real-world healthcare experiences through participation in multiple health fairs in the area. This effort connected students with the community in a way that had never been done before here at Mid.
Mike Schram supports student success at Mid through his ability to manage multiple complex online systems, develop meaningful content that enhances learning, and navigate technical situations across teams and departments. Mike continues to grow his own skillset in an effort to help those around him leverage new technologies, and participates in several committees, lending his expertise and learning from others. His willingness to work with teams across the College and with Mid’s partners on technical systems, online learning quality control, and continuing education in an ever-changing digital landscape demonstrates his dedication and commitment to the College.
The Excellence in Community Engagement Award is presented to those who go above and beyond in fostering meaningful connections, advocating for important causes, and strengthening the relationship between education and the community. Over the last several years, Amy Fisher has been a driving force behind numerous community initiatives and partnerships. Amy leads the Women’s Health Summit, champions campus-wide awareness initiatives, and tirelessly advocates for sustainability, awareness, and mutual understanding.
Her commitment to service is evident in so many ways—whether through her involvement with the Mt. Pleasant Chapter of Zonta, the Mt. Pleasant Chamber of Commerce, and Mi-ACE, or her simple yet profound efforts, like ensuring snack stations are available to students on each campus.
The College also recognized the following employees who have reached Years of Service milestones.
“We’re grateful for the amazing team members at Mid and so enjoy recognizing their efforts,” shared Lori Fassett, Associate Vice President of Human Resources. “We have so many great things happening at the College, and this is just one way that we’re able to acknowledge exceptional employees who go above and beyond!”
