Mid’s Evening of Gratitude Recognized Donors

The Mid Michigan College Foundation recently hosted An Evening of Gratitude on the College’s Mt. Pleasant Campus.

“This event brought together supporters and friends as we recognized the incredible impact our donors make,” said Alexa Carey, Executive Director of the Mid Foundation. “It was an evening filled with camaraderie as well as shared memories and hopes for a brighter future.”

A special presentation led by Carol Churchill, former Mid President from 2004-2007, celebrated the 10th Anniversary of Mid’s Capital Campaign that transformed the Mt. Pleasant Campus with the addition of the Center for Student Services and Center for Liberal Arts & Business in 2011 and 2014 respectively.

Current Mid President Tim Hood presented the Betty Mussell Distinguished Service Award. The award was established in 2021 and recognizes extraordinary dedication and service to Mid Michigan College.

This year’s recipient was Dave Kyle, a longtime Mid supporter and champion. Kyle served as the Mid Foundation Board Chair from 2004 to 2018, and led the group with generosity and a commitment to creating lasting resources for students and the College.

“Dave and his wife Sherry’s generous donations demonstrate a true commitment to the importance of education in our local area,” noted Carey. “Dave’s willingness to step up has inspired many others to support Mid and we’re lucky to have him in our corner.”

Kyle often donated his time to the College as well, installing flag poles on each campus and attending many events throughout the years to build community connections.

In addition to his role with the Mid Foundation, Kyle was an influential advisor and board member for the Technical Education Center on the Harrison Campus.

“Dave gave hands-on, experienced input for the vision and development of Mid’s Tech Center,” said Carey. “His guidance helped establish a resource that continues to benefit the community.”

Beyond Mid, Kyle is a valued member of the Clare Rotary Club and a dedicated business owner. His company, Kyle’s Manufacturing in Farwell, is recognized for producing high-precision Swiss-style turned parts using materials like brass, aluminum, and plastic.

“Dave is truly a community leader, partner, and supporter,” shared Carey. “It was an honor to officially thank him and celebrate his efforts.”
