Mid Michigan College, in partnership with Art Reach of Mid Michigan, is honored to host the Stamps of Hope art exhibit, which features creative works by Syrian Refugees.
The exhibit will be featured throughout Mid’s Mt. Pleasant Campus October 15 through November 15 with various art pieces available for viewing and purchase, with 100% of the sales benefitting the refugee artists and their families.
“We are excited to bring this exhibit to our community and highlight the creative talent of these incredible individuals,” said Iliana Miller, Mid Michigan College Communication Faculty member and exhibit organizer. “And we’re grateful to Art Reach for partnering with us to ensure the exhibit is a success.”
The exhibit will also be highlighted during the upcoming Conference on the Middle East & Mediterranean Region event November 11 – 13, with a presentation by Professor Rihab Sawah, Associate Professor of Physics at Lincoln Land Community College in Illinois and originally from Syria. Dr. Rihab will provide an insider’s look at the art studio, of the artists, and the name of the exhibit, Stamps of Hope.
“We hope to see many community members, educators, and students take advantage of this opportunity to explore the art and region through this exhibit and the upcoming conference,” noted Miller. “The cultures, current events, and creative expressions in the region are diverse and incredibly complex.”
Mid Michigan College was awarded a grant from the Midwest Institute for International-Intercultural Education (MIIIE) to develop new courses, infuse the curriculum of existing courses that inherently have a global component, lead a Study Abroad course, and organize global awareness events focusing on the Middle East and the Mediterranean Region.
