Dear Alumni & Friends of Mid Michigan College,
We’ve seen firsthand how Mid Michigan College changes lives. For our families, our neighbors, and our community, it’s a place where dreams turn into careers and potential turns into progress. That’s why we’re inviting you to join us in supporting the future of Mid.
I’m Michael Huenemann with Isabella Bank, and my daughter is a dual-enrolled student at Mid. Watching her earn college credits while still in high school has been incredible. She’s gaining an affordable education close to home, and she’ll move forward with less debt and greater opportunity. This is the kind of impact that ripples through families and communities. I’m honored to serve alongside Wendy Oswald, an alumna of Mid and Office Manager at C&R Electric. Wendy knows the power of a Mid education because she’s lived it. Her daughter is now following in her footsteps, building skills and opening doors to opportunity.
Together, we’re leading Rooted in Community, Growing for Tomorrow—a campaign to broaden access to state-of-the-art technologies, create a home for Mid’s athletic teams and commencement ceremonies, upgrade our Health Science Labs, and enhance campus spaces to provide an even more engaging student experience. This campaign is about more than new buildings—it's about expanding opportunities, strengthening our workforce, and making Mid a place where even more students can thrive.
Your support can turn this vision into a reality.
Ten years ago, our community stepped up to create the Mt. Pleasant Campus we have today. Now, we’re ready to take the next big step. With your help, we can ensure that the next generation of students have access to the tools and opportunities they need to succeed. By investing in this campaign, you are investing in small steps, bold leaps, and moving students forward.
At Mid Michigan College, we are committed to serving those who wish to learn throughout their life—ensuring that every student has access to opportunities, resources, and support. This campaign is about more than buildings; it’s about investing in our students—students who become the health and skilled trades professionals, and leaders our communities rely on.
The Event Center gives our athletes a true home, creates a space for our students to gather and grow, and serves as a hub for community events, as well as a venue for commencement—allowing us to celebrate our graduates right here on campus. This campaign is vital for the future of Mid—helping us grow while remaining deeply rooted in our community. To see this through, we need your help.
This is your chance to take meaningful action. Your chance to inspire others. Your chance to make a true, lasting difference. Support Mid Michigan College’s Rooted in Community, Growing for Tomorrow Campaign and build a future that helps students take that first step and experience opportunity.
Renovations to the Morey Technical Education Center are nearly complete, establishing the Mt. Pleasant Campus as a hub for advanced manufacturing and skilled trades. Continued support will enhance these spaces and ensure students have access to cutting-edge resources. The Harrison Campus Welding Lab is also being renovated to upgrade classroom learning spaces, expanding access to career-ready training across the region.
The Event Center is the permanent home for Mid’s nationally ranked Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams, provides an indoor training facility for the College’s Baseball and Softball teams, and serves as the home of Laker Athletics. The Event Center is also the venue for Commencement and a hub for engaging students, welcoming prospective students, and connecting with the community through events, speakers, and gatherings.
We are focused on upgrading the College’s Health Science Labs with state-of-the-art simulation equipment that mirrors real-world healthcare settings and situations. Investing in the future of healthcare education at Mid directly impacts the quality of healthcare in our region by ensuring that healthcare providers have access to highly-skilled, patient-centered professionals.
From inspiring new ideas to instilling confidence and fostering a sense of belonging, the spaces we live and learn in have a significant impact. The College plans to create a more vibrant, lively, and welcoming environment that reflects the pride we take in our community and ensures campus spaces remain an inspiring place to learn, work, and gather.
Renovations to the Morey Technical Education Center began in late 2024 and are nearing completion in fall 2025. This project firmly establishes the Mt. Pleasant Campus as a regional hub for Gratiot and Isabella Counties in advanced manufacturing and skilled trades. With donor support, a newly upgraded Welding Lab now features cutting-edge technology, while the creation of the Advanced Manufacturing Lab, designed to meet Industry 4.0 standards, responds directly to the growing demand of local employers. Continued investment in the Morey Technical Education Center ensures these labs remain equipped with the latest technology, giving students every advantage for success.
As the Mt. Pleasant project nears completion, the College is preparing to launch the next phase of investment at the Harrison Campus. Renovating and expanding the Welding Lab, ensuring students from throughout Clare and Gladwin counties have access to the latest equipment and training. Equipping classrooms with advanced technology related to CAD and similar programs, ensuring students have access to industry-standard software and tools so they can build skills and prepare for today’s design-focused and manufacturing careers. These efforts ensure that students on both campuses are prepared to pursue successful careers within our local communities.
A cornerstone of this campaign is the creation of the Mid Michigan College Event Center, a versatile facility that serves multiple purposes. The Event Center is the permanent home for Mid’s nationally ranked Men’s and Women’s Basketball teams and also provides an indoor training facility for its seven other varsity teams. Beyond being the home of Laker Athletics, the Event Center is the venue for Commencement and a hub for engaging students, welcoming prospective students, and connecting with the community.
Commencement is currently held off-campus at an area high school. The Event Center allows the College to host this significant milestone on campus, strengthening the connection between the College, the student, and their incredible achievements. The Event Center unites, celebrates, and fosters a greater sense of belonging for all. It is a place where everyone in the entire community—students, families, and supporters—can gather, connect, and celebrate what it means to be a Laker.
Mid Michigan College’s Health Sciences programs, including Nursing, Radiography, Physical Therapist Assistant, Medical Assistant, and more, prepare students to meet today’s demanding healthcare standards. Upgrading our Health Science Labs with advanced simulation equipment will ensure students train in environments that reflect real-world settings. This investment directly impacts the quality of care in our region by providing local healthcare providers with highly-skilled, patient-centered professionals.
From inspiring new ideas to instilling confidence and fostering a sense of belonging, the spaces we live and learn in have a significant impact. Campus spaces are an integral part of the student experience, helping students connect, learn, and grow together. The College plans to create a more vibrant, lively, and welcoming environment through creative graphics, paint treatments, and art installations. This investment reflects the pride we take in our community and ensures campus spaces remain an inspiring place to learn, work, and gather.
The College continues to demonstrate its commitment to serving students and the community through significant ongoing investments, alongside incredibly generous donor support, in both the Harrison and Mt. Pleasant Campuses.
“ A decade ago, I had the privilege of helping lead the campaign that established Mid’s Mt. Pleasant Campus. Today, I’m honored to return as co-chair—this time, not just as a community member, but as a parent. My daughter is a dual-enrolled student at Mid, and I see firsthand how the College serves students of all ages, from high schoolers to adults balancing work and family. As a commuter college, Mid must be intentional about creating a sense of belonging. When students feel connected to their college, peers, and future careers, they’re more likely to succeed. These projects transform the student experience and strengthen the pipeline of skilled workers our region depends on. By investing in Mid, we’re investing in the future of our communities.”
