Mid Michigan College recently unveiled its new Campus Master Plan, a comprehensive vision for the future that outlines strategic upgrades at both campus locations.
Mid has two main campuses, one in Harrison and the other in Mt. Pleasant. Following a major renovation of the Harrison Campus four years ago, Mid is now embarking on an ambitious Campus Master Plan, encompassing both campuses, which includes creating additional student spaces, improving campus wayfinding, enhancing accessibility, and providing students and the community with a more welcoming environment.
Designed to support student success and community engagement, the plan focuses on creating modern, sustainable spaces that foster learning and collaboration.
“This master plan reflects our commitment to involving students, partners, faculty, staff, and community members in the future of Mid,” said Tim Hood, President of Mid Michigan College. “We are excited to invest in both campus locations as we create spaces that better serve our students and the community.”
Stakeholders were encouraged to participate in the planning process through forums and various feedback opportunities over the past two years. Through impactful feedback and careful fiscal planning, several projects rose to the top of the priorities list.
Highlights of the plan include the creation of a dedicated student gathering space, the addition of food service on the Mt. Pleasant Campus, single-person restrooms, campus beautification, signage updates, environmental management of College property, and the potential development of an event center on the Mt. Pleasant Campus. These prioritized projects are all aimed at accommodating growth and meeting the evolving needs of students, community members, and local organizations.
“As we continue to invest in our facilities and improve the educational experience, we maintain our focus on our students and their needs,” shared Hood. “The recent renovations and upcoming master plan projects reflect the College’s long-standing dedication to providing high-quality, accessible education for all in state-of-the-art environments.”
Designed to balance growth and fiscal responsibility, the Campus Master Plan underscores Mid’s commitment to student success, community engagement, and local partnerships.
“Our goal is to create campuses that adapt to the needs of our students while maintaining strong community connections,” noted Hood. “By investing in both Harrison and Mt. Pleasant, we’re reinforcing our commitment to accessible, high-quality education and local partnerships for years to come.”
