American agriculture provides a third of the world’s food supply and will be called upon to significantly increase production by mid-century for an ever-hungrier world. As a student at Mid Michigan College, you will become prepared to help meet that daunting challenge through a blend of academic study and hands-on practical experience.

You enjoy applying technology in new ways and have an interest in raising animals, growing crops, and exploring the field of agriculture. Career-Ready Agriculture Pathways*

Agriculture Business | Associate in Applied Science

In just four semesters, you can complete your degree and enter the agriculture field where you'll put your newfound business skills to work. You'll master the theories and skills related to marketing and sales within the agriculture industry, while building a broad base of knowledge and skills related to communication and career readiness. An internship at a local business is also part of this pathway—an important step in connecting you with local employment opportunities. Plus, ladder credits earned through the Agriculture Business Training Credentials to save time and money on your path to this associate degree.


Agriculture Business I | Training Credential

With just 30 credits required and in just two semesters, you can gain employable skills and gain entry-level knowledge in animal science, crop and soil science, and agricultural technology. You'll learn about agricultural economics and the basic principles of marketing and sales. Plus, you'll develop your own personal career goals, build a resume, and polish your skills related to communication and business etiquette.


Agriculture Business II | Training Credential

This pathway introduces you to farm management best practices and how best to approach issues commonly seen by those working in agriculture settings. An internship at a local business is also part of this pathway—an important step in connecting you with local employment opportunities. Plus, you can combine your Agriculture Business I Training Credential credits with Agriculture Business II Training Credential knowledge for a jump start toward your Agriculture Business Associate Degree.


Farm Management and Operations | Associate in Applied Science

Farming is more than feeding, planting, and harvesting. This highly technical and honorable profession incorporates more equipment and science than ever before! Explore all the phases of modern-day agriculture that make daily operations run smoothly and profitably. Knowing current farm operation and management skills ensures your success on your family farm or the farm you help operate or manage. An internship at a local business is also part of this degree—an important step in connecting you with local employment opportunities. Plus, ladder credits earned through the Farm Management and Operations Training Credentials to save time and money on your path to this associate degree.


Farm Management and Operations I | Training Credential

The first step toward becoming a farm manager begins with this 30-credit training credential. In just two semesters, you can gain employable skills that are focused on an overview of agriculture and an introduction to the world of animal and soil sciences. You'll also learn about the various ways in which technology is used in agriculture and the basic principles of sales.


Farm Management and Operations II | Training Credential

This pathway broadens your experiences in the field of agriculture, provides you with employable skills, and includes an internship at a local business is also part of this pathway—an important step in connecting you with local employment opportunities. You'll more deeply explore the fundamental theories related to communication, farm management, and animal health and nutrition. Plus, you can combine your Farm Management and Operations I Training Credential credits with Farm Management and Operations II Training Credential knowledge for a jump start toward your Farm Mangement and Operations Associate Degree.
