College NOW! Launches at Mid

Mid Michigan College is launching a grant-funded program, College NOW!, aimed at helping first-time college students start their journey to a college degree.

“Students can complete one math or English course, completely free of charge,” explained Dr. Stevens Amidon, Dean of Arts & Sciences at Mid. “Students will receive individualized support through the semester and there are great incentives for them as well!”

College Now! asks students to attend a college readiness session as they begin their courses to ensure they are connected to resources and ready to succeed. The session includes support focused on academic advising, registration, financial aid, mental health support, accommodations, and college readiness.

Students will also receive a Mid backpack containing school supplies, a laptop, and a $100 gift card.

At the conclusion of the summer semester, those students who register for 12 or more credits at Mid for the Fall 2024 semester will get to keep their laptop as well.

College NOW! is free for students and a completed FAFSA is not required, but Mid’s Financial Aid team will be available to help students complete the FAFSA as they prepare for the Fall 2024 semester.

The program is open to any and all first-time college students, but space is limited.

Students who are interested should attend upcoming info sessions and apply soon at midmich.edu/college-now.
