Mid Michigan College student, Colby Brown of Shepherd, recently received a Head of the Class award from Malco Products, a major tool manufacturer based in Annandale, Minnesota.
"Colby is an exceptional student and team player. He is here every day, on time and ready to learn, and many of his fellow students look up to him," noted Ron Holmes, HRA Lead Faculty at Mid. "He often helps the other students with their studies, and even creates projects and opportunities for his classmates to help them learn and understand HRA concepts and principles better. He already has been hired full-time at Mt. Pleasant Heating and Air Conditioning due to his knowledge and strong work ethic."
Each school term, Malco recognizes high-achieving students and entire graduating classes in the HVAC/sheet metal, building construction, and autobody repair fields through the “Head of the Class” Student Recognition Program.
Since 2005, the program has reached more than 85,000 students, from over 1,000 technical schools, Union Joint Apprenticeship Training Committees, and Industry Association education programs across the U.S. and Canada.
“I’m excited for the next step in my heating and cooling career,” noted Brown. “This program has taught me many valuable skills and I’ve also made lifelong friendships with classmates and instructors.”
Mid’s HRA lab features heating and refrigeration units for hands-on learning that prepares students to enter the workforce successfully. In addition, fast-track options allow students to earn multiple credentials and certifications in just one year, and 100% of students are placed in internships and jobs following graduation.
