Mid Michigan College’s mission statement is fulfilled through the College’s consistent efforts to achieve four enduring goals: Encouraging Student Success, Engaging the Community, Enhancing Employee Impact, and Ensuring Institutional Effectiveness.

While all members of the campus community work to achieve these goals, the College’s governance structure (its advisory councils, committees, divisions, and departments) is organized to specifically address each of these four areas. A standing charge guides the work of each group from year to year with specific tasks and priorities identified on an annual basis. To ensure representation from across the campus, the composition of each committee is determined in advance although all committees have the ability to solicit input from particular individuals or from the campus community as a whole.

Committee Membership

Each spring, the President asks all members of the campus community to express their interests regarding involvement in college governance in the coming academic year. The call for involvement will indicate the basic composition; overall charter (purpose) of the committee; its focus for the coming year; the approximate time commitment anticipated; and information about traditional meeting times. Not including members of the Mid Michigan College Foundation, Mid's Scholarship and Grant Committee, Mid's Mt. Pleasant Advisory Committee, and Advisory Councils, a total of 174 individual faculty and staff were appointed to one or more College Governance Committees.

Committee appointments are made by the President, in consultation with the College Council, by the close of each academic year and the first committee meetings of the year are held during the month of September. All committee meetings are open and the minutes of each meeting are posted on the College’s website.
